Islamophobia

I decided to change the direction of my research paper. I am now focusing in on Islamophobia. I want to explore why people fear Muslims or simply why people discriminate against them. Obviously cultural differences and the 9/11 attacks cause uneasiness in the United States and in Europe. I want to explore how we should act toward Islam. What is discriminating? How careful should we be when we trust people? Who is really to blame for 9/11? Are all Muslims really to blame for 9/11, or should it be blamed on a nation. Should Muslim nations be associated with terrorists, or should the two be totally different. What nations have the most Muslims, and how peaceful are their countries.

I hope that I rock this paper and get a good grade. I got a good feeling because I checked out four books that are all very good so far.

Presentation Reflection

Today we presented our Powerpoint about people who eat by themselves in the Atrium. Luckily our Powerpoint worked this time, and everything went smoothly. I think this project went over pretty well. What we could have done is research in a bigger picture instead of just Ball State. To go further we would have to do more research and visit other campuses. I wonder if Ball State has well-known franchises to try to attract more people.

I am really worried about getting my rough draft done by next week. I hope things work out.

Observation/Interview

I interviewed Dakota Foote for my interview paper and sent it in. It was an eye opener for me to hear his story because he always has a creative way of looking at things. I believe that I made a good choice my selecting him to interview.

4 February 2010

Today we turned in our Final copy of our annotated bibliography. I added one source last night and revised it for a good hour last night checking for errors. I looked it over once today, too, and printed it out. I was able to get ten sources, although I may not use all of them as I narrow my topic down.

We also talked about our topics in class today. Our group plans to interview our people separately and then compare our results. Then we will have a photo session/shoot day and collect pictures for our slide show. Rather than each of us doing five slides each, we have decided to work on the entire slide show together so that we do not repeat information.

February 23 and 25

I am a little late on my reflection of last week. We started working on ideas on some ideas for our group project. Our group is going to observe people who eat by themselves in public. We are going to meet in the Atrium tonight to make our observations

I am also working on perfecting the second draft of my annotated bibliography for tomorrow's class.

Read, Comment, and Follow This Blog All!!!

Today we were supposed to a have chapters eight and nine read. I'm sure everyone in the class read it all :P lol. In class we worked on a worksheet that helped us to determine whether a website is trustworthy or not. Some ways to find out are by looking at the purpose, authority, currency, and the contend of the site.

I also just realized that we have another project due on Thursday. I did not really understand what an annotated bibliography was until today. I still need to come up with seven more sources to get at least get ten. I hope to get my first draft done as soon as possible by Thursday. I am glad that I can finally use online sources

Have fun writing your papers all. Have a good one

February 11

This week we turned in our topic proposal draft. I feel pretty good about what I covered in my paper.

I also have been trying to keep up with the reading assignments. Today we were supposed to have read chapter 8, which talks about our search for information. Most of it is pretty common sense type like figuring out what sources are best to use.

Today we will be meeting in the library for some kind of lecture on how to use a library catalog, I think.
